Call the Agent 2025 – expertise is key to preparedness
Call the Agent October Summit once again brought together maritime and logistics professionals in Helsinki on October 9, 2025, to discuss current challenges and solutions in the industry. The event focused on risks at both the global and individual company levels, but above all, it sought practical solutions together.
The event was organized by the Finnish Shipbrokers' Association under the leadership of CEO Sari Turkkila. The association is a key player in the industry, bringing together shipbrokers and other professionals in the maritime transport chain. Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) and, in particular, the Maritime Logistics Research Center were represented by Head of Research Katri-Piia Rajala, Chief Researche Minna Keinänen-Toivola, Researcher Kati Renholm, and Lecturer Olli Virtanen. In addition, three students from SAMK's Maritime Logistics degree program took care of the reception desk for the event and also had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience at the end of the event.
Chief Researcher, Docent Minna Keinänen-Toivola gave a presentation entitled "Competence is the key to preparedness". She emphasized that preparedness is built on three levels:
- In networks: cooperation and joint training strengthen the resilience of the entire industry
- In organizations: strategies, processes, and key personnel, together with systems (e.g., NEMO), form the backbone of preparedness
- In individuals: continuous updating of expertise, degrees, and continuing education are key to a secure future
Call the Agent has established itself as an important annual forum for maritime logistics and shipping professionals. The next Call the Agent event, the eighth in the series, will be held on October 8, 2026. For more information, visit Shipbrokers Finland – Call the Agent October Summit 2025.
