MUSTBE Nature-Based Stormwater Solution Videos Are Out!
Seven nature-based solutions were implemented in four different countries to improve the management and treatment of stormwater. The pilot solutions combine nature-based approaches with digital tools to maximize stormwater treatment efficacy and municipalities capacity to monitor the actual quality of the stormwater. Now, seven videos are published to showcase the solutions.
The pilot solutions were implemented in:
- Wetland, Pori, Finland,
- Central Square, Pori, Finland,
- Broberg, Söderhamn, Sweden,
- Söderhamnsporten, Söderhamn, Sweden,
- Viimsi, Estonia,
- Tallinn, Estonia, and
- Riga, Latvia.
With the risks posed by increasing heavy rainfall brought by climate change and impermeable surfaces in urban areas, the nature-based solutions aim to manage flood risk and reduce nutrient runoff for example with retention ponds, meandering of the water course, fostering sedimentation and improving ground infiltration of the water. The monitoring of the solutions’ effectiveness to the quality and quantity of stormwater is underway.

The videos were produced as part of the EU Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021-2027 co-funded MUSTBE project.
