SAMK participates in IAMU AGA25 meeting in India
Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) participated in the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) Annual General Assembly (AGA25), which was held on October 13–18, 2025, in Chennai, India, hosted by AMET University. The event brought together professionals from 38 countries.

The AGA25 program included a presidential forum, plenary sessions, research project presentations, and the IAMU Conference (IAMUC), which addressed current topics in maritime education, research, and innovation.
Minna M. Keinänen-Toivola, Chief Researcher at the Maritime Logistics Research Center, officially represented SAMK at the presidential forum and presented SAMK's research projects to an international audience at the IAMU conference. The presentation highlighted the results of the ongoing Interreg Central Baltic-funded Sustainable Flow and CEF-funded NEMO CEF projects, which are developing Finland's national European Maritime Single Window solution and utilize digital tools to promote sustainable maritime transport and logistics. The key objective of both projects is to utilize digital tools to promote sustainable maritime transport and logistics.

The trip was carried out in cooperation with representatives from Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech/EMERA), which strengthened Nordic cooperation and the planning of joint projects. The conference also featured numerous discussions with representatives from various countries, including the Australian Maritime College (AMC).
The program was complemented by a cultural component, which introduced the history and traditions of South India, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mahabalipuram. This provided a valuable perspective on the rich cultural heritage of the region alongside the intensive program.

Participation in the IAMU AGA25 meeting strengthened the role of SAMK and the Maritime Logistics Research Center as active international partners in research and development and created new opportunities for cooperation in the field of global maritime education and research.
