Visiting the port of Naantali – The Maritime Logistic Research Center’s Team day

The Maritime Logistics Research Center's team day took place at the Port of Naantali. The day featured a presentation on the port's operations, followed by a picnic cruise aboard the Finnlines vessels Finnsirius and Finncanopus.

In Mid-October the entire Maritime Logistics Research Center went on a team excursion to the port of Naantali, the trip focused on team building and gaining knowledge together. The day began by getting a presentation by the Port Director and Chief Commercial Officer Yrjö Vainiala, about the operations and history of the port of Naantali, which is both an industrial and passenger-oriented port.

Thereafter the team boarded the Finnlines vessel Finnsirius for a picnic cruise to Långnäs and back to Naantali. The programme onboard began with a late breakfast before it was time for the introduction and agenda meeting. The head of the research center Johanna Lainio, opened with the agenda for the day as well as, information in regard to the future of the growing maritime research center.

After a filling lunch The Maritime Logistics Research Center’s project manager Heikki Koivisto, gave a lively presentation about Finnlines. Koivisto has worked as a captain and he shared his personal experiences while working for Finnlines

In the afternoon it was time to change to the vessel Finncanopus, on which the entire team had a guided tour of the bridge, after which the official agenda of the day ended and the team was free to roam the ship until it reached the port of Naantali.
