SAMK's Maritime Logistics Research Center and its Port Activity App port application will gain visibility again, this time in Helsinki, as Heikki Koivisto and Sami Skog from SAMK will participate Europe Day on May 9.

The Maritime Logistics Research Center was launched in early 2021 to respond to the development needs of the maritime transport and logistics sector and to contribute to the growth strategy of the Satakunta region. The first year of research and development has been successful. The center has consolidated its position and strengthened the development prospects of the sector.

The first course in Cape Verde was held in October 2021. Markku Mylly teached maritime governance aspects in the Sain Vicent Island in Cape Verde 25-29 October 2021.

The first group of 16 students will arrive to Rauma in early 2022. The aim is that the double degree is a stable structure, and a new student group will start yearly.

International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) year conference AGA21 was organized in Alexandria, Egypt in 26.–28.10.2021.

SAMK has led the development of the application, which has been selected as SMART4SEA Award finalist. The applications, developed in Finland in Port of Rauma and in Sweden in Port of Gävle have already been also implemented to national use.

The application, led by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences received Highly Commended recognition in the Seatrade Awards final on Wednesday 3.11.2021.
